The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Zone B felicitated the newly elected leaders of the Union, Comrade Alhassan Yahaya emerging as the National President and Comrade Dr. Abimbola Oyetunde as the Deputy National President.
The election, which took place at the 8th Triennial National Delegates Conference in Owerri, Imo State, marked a historic milestone for the union, as Comrade Alhassan became the first Deputy National President to become National President, while Dr. Abimbola became the first female journalist to occupy the position of Deputy National President.
In a congratulatory message, the NUJ Zone B (South West States) described Comrade Alhassan’s victory as a reflection of his dedication, hard work, and commitment to serving the union.
The statement, signed by the Zonal Secretary, Abdulrasak Alege, urged the new leadership to be magnanimous in victory and extend a hand of love to other contestants to move the union forward.
The NUJ Zone B also felicitated with the immediate past President, Chief Dr. Chris Isiguzo, for finishing strong and making history by handing over to his Deputy and producing the first female Deputy National President.
