NLC Gives Governors 2 weeks Ultimatum to kick-start N35,000 workers wage award

By Akubulu Ngozi

Following the hardship from the removal of fuel subsidy in Nigeria, the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC has given a two-week ultimatum to governors to commence the N35000 wages award for workers in their respective states.

The Congress gave the directive following the Memorandum of Understanding, MOU, signed by the Federal Government with the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC and the Trade Union Congress, TUC.

As revealed by the State Chapters of the NLC and TUC, on Tuesday, the Ultimatum has been written to the governors to fast-track the necessary protocols and implement the award meant to assuage the subsidy removal pains, adding that, after the two weeks’ deadline has elapsed, governors would be expected to commence implentation of the policy.
