The President of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has emphasized the quality of petroleum products being produced at the newly operational Dangote Refinery.
During a recent inspection, Dangote explained why the first samples of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), often known as petrol and diesel, from the refinery differed drastically from the gasoline already in circulation.
Dangote displayed a sample of the petrol, pointing out its clearer appearance than what Nigerians are accustomed to.
He said, “This is a sample of petrol. You see it as a different colour, but it is the genuine thing,” “You are now going to have a good and real product.”
Dangote advertised the diesel generated at the plant as “Euro-5 diesel,” a high-quality fuel that meets tough international criteria.
“I am sure Nigerians have not seen this colour of diesel before,” stated the minister.
“It’s called Euro-5 diesel. It has fewer than 10 parts per million (PPM) of sulphur. This will make vehicles, engines, and generators last longer.”
Dangote emphasized the benefits of these refined products, particularly regarding health and environmental impact. “The health of the people and the environment will not be compromised. This is the real deal,” he assured.
The Dangote Refinery, the largest single-train refinery in the world, has been a significant project for Nigeria, with promises of boosting local production and reducing the country’s dependence on imported petroleum products. The refinery’s products, with their superior quality and reduced sulfur content, are expected to set new standards in the Nigerian fuel market.
