NIGERIAN YOUTH FOR DEMOCRACY PLEADS WITH YOUTHS TO SHUN PLANNED PROTEST

..as coordinator of the group Amb. Ademiloye Moses highlights consequences of such protest

The National Coordinator of the Nigerian Youth for Democracy, Amb. Ademiloye Moses has pleaded with youths across the country, particularly Ekiti State not to join the planned Nationwide protest due to it’s grave consequences to both the nation and the youths themselves.

This is contained in a statement made available to newsmen in Ado Ekiti.

Amb. Ademiloye Moses who is the Former Special Assistant, Youth and Students Matters to the Governor, Ekiti State noted that While the youths has the right to peaceful assembly and expression as enshrined in the constitution, it is crucial to weigh the potential consequences of participating in such actions against ultimate goals of peace, stability, and constructive change.

According to him,:”Protests have historically played a significant role in championing the rights and voices of the marginalized. However, they also carry inherent risks, especially in our current sociopolitical climate. The planned protest, while intended to address genuine grievances, could easily spiral into violence, property destruction, and loss of lives. These outcomes would be counterproductive to the cause of democracy and could undermine the progress we have made thus far.

He highlighted some of the Consequences of Participating in the Protest to include arrests, legal battles, and a permanent criminal record of eventually such person was arrested which could affect personal freedom, future prospects in education, employment, and other areas.

The National Coordinator also noted that if such protest turns chaotic, rhe risk of physical harm from clashes with law enforcement or opposing groups is significant and Injuries, or worse, fatalities could occur, leaving families and communities devastated.

Other consequences according to Moses include the impact of the planned protest on the economy, deepen existing social and political divides and Undermine the nation’s democratic Processes.

Moses however called for a constructive engagement with government and necessary stakeholder

In light of these potential consequences, I urge all Nigerian youths to consider alternative, constructive means of effecting change and present a well-researched, viable solutions to the issues at hand.

He added”Our generation has the potential to shape the future of Nigeria. However, we must do so with wisdom, patience, and a commitment to peace. While it is essential to stand up for our rights and demand accountability, we must also consider the long-term consequences of our actions. Let us choose the path of constructive engagement, dialogue, and peaceful activism.
