…says Claims False, Calculated to Destabilize Country

The Nigerian Army has debunked claims of corruption, nepotism, ethnic and religious bigotry in the force particularly in its selection of troops for Peace Support Operations (PSO) saying that claims are false and calculated to destabilise the country.
This was made known in a statement published on the Nigeria Army Twitter handle, @HQNigeriaArmy.
According to the statement, the alleged false claims which were made by an online media; Sahara Reporters is also targeted at causing disaffection within a united and formidable military.
Also, the statement has that “The unacceptable falsehood being propagated demands clarification for the interest of well-meaning Nigerians and in honour of selfless officers and soldiers, who have continued to pay the price of defending the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the nation and global peace.
“Over the years, the Nigeria Army has been very firm with its criteria for selection of those to serve in the Peace Support Operations, which include, that personnel must have participated in the ongoing counter-terrorism, counter-insurgency operations in the North East for at least 2 years, among other criteria.” The statement partly reads.
