Niger sets to dialogue with ECOWAS

…chance for Nigeria to gain influence, says ex-presidential Candidate

By Udesinanna Stephen

Following Niger’s new leader, General Abdourahmane Tchiani’s agreement to dialogue with the Economic Community Of West Africa, ECOWAS, the former Presidential Candidate and All Progressive Congress, APC Chieftain Adamu Garba has said this will be a chance for Nigeria to gain influence in the region.

Adamu said this while commenting on the regional crisis via his Twitter handle @adamugarba.

He said, “Niger’s new leader, General Tchiani agrees to dialogue with ECOWAS on the principles of mutual respect and mutual peace. This is good news. Our President’s carrot and stick approach is working.

“The deployed instruments can be used as a leverage for a new Nigeria’s soft power in West Africa. I like this move.”
