A Group, Standup for Women Society, SWS, Ekiti State Chapter has offered support for vulnerable children in the Erelu-Adebayo Children Home at New Iyin Road, Ekiti State.
Among the items donated include beverages, confectionaries, toiletries to mention just a few.
Speaking during the visit, the Group’s Chairperson, Mrs Bade Gboyega, noted that, every child deserves to be loved alike as no child is to be reverend above the other.
She said, “We love children and women alike, we are against gender base violence, as we are propagators of the rights of women and children.We want to show these children that we love them and we promise to come time to time for visit.”
In her message to the occassion, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Women Affairs, Mrs Olatilu Omotayo Adebola who is also a member of the Group, said that, the concept was built out of their zeal and committment to reach out to vulnerables, adding that, it is the custom of the Group to initiate outreaches like this.
She said, “Today’s visit is borne out of our committment to reach out to the vulnerables as part as our plans annually to fulfil our Group’s obligation. As part of our efforts as women to fight for the right of children and women in general, we have instigated today’s visit.
“Apart from vising orphanage homes, we also visit schools to train children on health education and the State’s Permanent Secretary on women Affairs who who is also our member has been supportive.”
Similarly, the Group’s Secretary, Mrs Akomolafe Helen, while restating the Group’s commitment in tackling Child Abuse and Gender Based Violence, implored the children to be steadfast in their learning, noting that, the sky is just the limit for them.
More so, appreciating the Group, one of the care givers of the children who doubles as a Social Worker, Mrs Kehinde Comfort, said that, the Orphanage Home is honoured by the Group’s act of gratitude.
Meanwhile, the Group donated provisions, toiletries and other valuable materials to the children at the Orphanage Home.
