NGO Donates Free Food Items, Cash Gifts to Indigent Ekiti Women

...as Gold Heart Foundation creates health awareness

No fewer than 20 indigent women in Ekiti State got free food items and cash gifts donation from a non-governmental organization.

Gift For Love Charity Foundation extended assistance to indigent women in the State to help cushion the harsh economic realities in the country.

Speaking at the one-day programme, which held at Temilola Ajayi Foundation Hall in Ado-Ekiti, the representative of Gift For Love Charity Foundation, Halima Abubakar said the gesture was an act of love and affection by the founder to help the vulnerable in the society.

According to her, “August happened to be her birth month and while thanking God over His faithfulness over her life, in that moment of reflection she decided to reach out to the vulnerable.

“Looking at the current economic situation of things, she thought of reaching out to the most vulnerable people with food items and a little financial assistance. We decided to reach out to widows and vulnerable women.

“The foundation is committed to helping people of different ages – women, children, entrepreneurial development amongst youths and women and the aged.”

The outreach, which was in partnership with Gold Heart Foundation featured health awareness, HIV test, diabetes mellitus and checking of blood pressure by Gold Heart Foundation.

The Health Advocacy Educator with the Foundation and a registered Nurse, Esther Aderotimi said they are expecting positive result from the women after the health awareness.

She said: “We are expecting a feedback of positive change because we told them about their health and hypertension, which is a silent killer. Because of their age, they are prone to hypertension and diabetes mellitus, which is a disease of the aged.”

The beneficiaries showered encomiums on the NGOs for deeming it fit to organize the programme saying that the gesture will go a long way to salvage the harsh economic situation.
