MINISTRY OF INDUSTRY SEEKS PARTNERSHIP WITH FEDERAL POLYTECHNIC ADO-EKITI

…as Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Otunba  Adeniyi Adebayo Visit Polytechnic After 20Years

The Minister for Industry, Trade and Investment, Otunba  Adeniyi Adebayo has advocated for a synergy between his Ministry and the Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti.

Otunba Adebayo, who gave the charge during a working visit to the Polytechnic on Wednesday, 15th June, 2022, noted that one of the aims of his Ministry is to bring about the industrialization of the Country which requires the contribution of tertiary institutions like Federal  Polytechnic Ado Ekiti.

According to him, the Polytechnic is enabled to provide the needed man power and the wherewithal to bring about the nation’s industrialization through curriculum development and collaborative efforts.

He said besides the possible corporate assistance which could be facilitated, the Minister also promised to be of assistance to the Institution on a personal level and noted that the Institution had witnessed a lot of growth in the last twenty years when last he visited.

He further promised that his Ministry would also look inward and around to see what areas of assistance, collaboration and Linkages, it can bring to play in the infrastructural development of the Polytechnic.

Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman of the eleventh Governing Council of the Polytechnic, Akogun Iyiola Oyedepo noted that the Institution invited the Minister for the visit with the view to harvesting his influence for the infrastructural development of the Polytechnic.

This he said the important visit of the Minister had become inevitable as a result of the myriads of needs confronting the Institution, as it is obvious that the Federal Government alone can not meet the needs of the Institution; hence, the need to seek the support of benefactors like the first Executive Governor of Ekiti State.

The Ministry, he requested, can come to the aid of the Polytechnic through the provision of research grants, endowments and infrastructural facilities support, which will aid the Research, Teaching and Learning processes of the Institution.

Akogun Oyedepo disclosed that the Institution is blessed with human capital resources but lack the needed infrastructure to bring this to bear in the society; hence, the clarion call on the Minister to come to its aid.
Earlier in his welcome remarks on the occasion, the Rector of the Institution, Dr. Dayo Oladebeye noted that the Polytechnic was bedeviled with a lot of constraints standing as a clog in its wheel of development.

Some of the constraints listed include but not limited to paucity of funds, lack of basic infrastructure such as hostels accommodation, classrooms for its ever growing students population, offices complex, inadequate workshops and laboratories among myriads of other critical needs.
Dr. Oladebeye pleaded with the Minister to use his good offices and large contacts to come to the aid of the Polytechnic by seeing to the amelioration of some of the problems facing the Institution.
