Midnight Inferno Ravages Lagos Government Quarters: Millions Lost, No Lives.

By Omrigbe Iyiowo

A fierce fire broke out in the early hours of Friday at the Lagos State Government Staf f Quarters on Odunsanmi Street, Ogba. The blaze, which erupted around 2:20 a.m., gutted a two-bedroom apartment in Block 21, a three-storey building housing 16 flats.

Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) identi fied an electrical surge in the children’s room as the cause. The fire destroyed the room and caused significant damage, running into millions of naira.

Swift action from LASEMA’s Response Team, the Nigerian Police Force, and the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service prevented the fire from spreading further. Thankfully, no lives were lost or injuries reported.

Authorities remain on-site to ensure the situation is fully contained, and residents have been advised on electrical safety following the incident.
