LAWMAKER CONDEMNS RECENT KILLINGS IN EKITI, URGES SECURITY AGENCIES TO BE MORE PROACTIVE

The lawmaker representing Ise /Orun Constituency who doubles as the Chairman House Committee on Security and special duties in the Ekiti State House of Assembly Hon. Babatunde Omotayo has enjoined security agencies in the state to be more proactive in the discharge of their duties.

In a chat with the journalists at the Assembly complex in Ado Ekiti after the plenary, Hon Omotayo condemned the incessant killings of innocent persons in the state, hence he called for a concerted efforts to address the situation.

He urged all security agencies and non state actors to redouble their efforts by profferring solutions  to the recent security challenges witnessed in the State which has led to the killings of  four persons within a month.

” As Chairman House Committee on Security and special duties with the support of the other members of the Committee and the entire members of the Seventh Assembly we will not shy away from our responsibility through the enactment of laws that will have direct impacts on the residents of Ekiti State, constant engagement of Security agency both State and non state actors.” He reiterated.

Earlier in day, during the plenary session, under the matters of urgent public importance, Hon Omotayo, one of the lawmakers elected under the Social Democratic party in the seventh Assembly  representing Ise/Orun Constituency stressed the need to put in place adequate security measures to curb the activities of  unknown gunmen who are operating under the guise of Okada riders to perpetrates evils.

The Chairman emphasized that Biometric capturing, proper registration and provision of unified uniform to all Okada riders with identification number would enable the government and the residents to be able to monitor the activities of the Okada riders and the miscreants among would be easily fished out.

He enjoined Ekiti residents to be more security conscious and cooperate with the security agencies in the State in order to make the state peaceful and habitable.
