A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Emure local government area of Ekiti State, Olu Okeya has urged government to fund the LGAs to enable them tackle issues of insecurity at the state borders.

Okeya stated this while addressing newsmen in Eporo-Ekiti on Tuesday, following the kidnapping cases that occurred in the state on Monday.

While commending the prompt response of Governor Biodun Oyebanji to the kidnapping cases, he called on him to intensify efforts in rehabilitation and construction of roads in Ekiti state, expecially Emure -Eporo road.

Okeya opined that with good roads, activities of kidnappers would be drastically reduced. He also suggested the purchase of modern day equipments for the security agencies in the state, most especially the Amotekun and local hunters.

He also called on Governor Oyebanji to work in synergy with President Bola Tinubu for the establishment of Army barracks in Ekiti state.

According to him; “Ekiti state remains the only state in the whole federation without Army barracks. This has really make Ekiti state so vulnerable to security challenges.”
