International Women’s Day: YEMI OSHE Advocates Additional Roles for Women in Government

The Founder of YEMI OSHE FOUNDATION, Mr. Opeyemi Bamidele Omotoyinbo, on Friday advocate for adequate involvement of women in the governance of the country at all levels.

YEMI OSHE who made this known through his media director, Mr. Akinluyi Oluwaseyi as part of his activities marking the 2024 International Women’s Day, said that women should not be seen as house wives only.

Omotoyinbo said that the theme for this year is ‘Investing in women: Accelerate progress’, which is apt, and needed to be implemented by everybody.

“Empowering womanhood will not only mean progress for women, but also progress for humanity in general because when women are well positioned economically, socially and politically, the family and the community are also empowered,” he said.

“Today, we have an unprecedented number of Ekiti women in elective and appointive positions which is a challenge for other women in the society.

The philanthropist also said that thousands of women will soon benefit from his empowerment programmes, such as the Women Agro-Entrep and several loans and grants that will gear them towards improving their living standard.

He lamented that women were still being abused in the society, noting that cases of rape and other forms of gender-based violence, were on the increase in the country.

“I lend my voice to the call for the strong monitoring of the Law against gender based violence in Ekiti, as it will go a long way in protecting our women and girls from abuse,” he said.
