Insecurity: Residents Hail Ekiti CP within Two Months in Office

By Roundoffnews

Residents of Ekiti State have continued to shower encomium on the Commissioner of Police in Ekiti State, CP  Moronkeji Adesina for the breakthrough recorded in the fight against crime in the state within eight weeks of assuming office.

According to the respondents, the crime rate in Ekiti State is almost at zero percent compared to what it used to be in recent past.

In Nigeria, insecurity is a major challenge that has remained unabated, in which Ekiti State is not an exception, owing to cases of wanton killings, kidnapping and bank robberies recorded in some part of the state.

However, speaking with Roundoffnews during a vox pop, a trader, Mr Sunday Ajisafe, a cleric, Pastor Victor Adeola and a woman who gave her name as Madam Bimbo affirmed that since the assumption of office by the CP two months ago, there had not been any record of significant crime.

The people affirmed that they have continued to hear and see in the news about several arrests of criminals made by the command in which some of them were caught at planning stage.

They expressed joy in the new development and urged the CP to sustain the tempo.

In his opinion, a middle aged man who resides in Embassy Island, Ado Ekiti, Joshua Adeola confirmed that the incessant robberies in the community had become a thing of the past.

Some others who spoke but do not want their name in the press, said they could now sleep with their two eyes closed as against what it used to be in recent past.

When contacted on telephone,  the  Public Relations Officer, Ekiti State Police Command,  Sunday Abutu confirmed that the command had made significant progress since the assumption of office by the new CP.

Abutu said the progress recorded was not by fluke but out of rigorous and persistent surveillance, Community partnership and collaboration with other security agencies.

He said immediately the CP took over, he introduced several strategies which he did not disclose due to security reasons adding that the CP put all DPOs and combat officers on their toes thus bringing about the positive result.

Abutu urged members of the public to always assist the command with useful information while he asked criminals to stir of Ekiti or face the wrath of the command.
