INFLATION: FG’S PALLIATIVE PACKAGES WENT TO WRONG HANDS- PROPHET OMITADE

…Urges govts to design, enforce new price control template

Founder of Holy Trinity Authority Prophetic Church, Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State, Prophet James Omitade, has said that the palliative distribution policy midwifed by the federal government to cushion the effect of inflation is not yielding desired result.

Prophet Omitade noted that the concentration of the palliatives in the hands of shady politicians to control the distribution channel, was responsible for it failure.

The Cleric said these in Ado Ekiti, on Monday, while reacting to the current state of the economy in the country and the impact of the palliative distribution policy.

The cleric alleged that the palliatives were distributed into wrong hands.

Prophet Omitade regretted that in spite of the huge quantum of rice palliatives distributed to states by President Tinubu, that only a few Nigerians benefited from the largesse, with the prices of rice and other products still soaring alarmingly.

“Government continued to give Palliatives of different sorts to the people, but poverty has not reduced. Hunger still pervades the streets. No wonder, people are groaning in hardship on daily basis.

“It was sad that politicians and private individuals they used sabotaged the process, even when government itself was expected to handle the distribution in a more careful and ingenious manner.

“This was a lesson that there must be proper planning for the execution of all government’s policies”, he stated.

In order to achieve desired results in the fight against economic hardship on Nigerians, the Cleric , advised the governments to introduce its own markets, where citizens could get goods at cheaper rate and for effective price control.

The foregoing, according to Prophet Omitade, would not only force down inflation, but also enable government to be in control and regulation of prices of goods.

Prophet Omitade noted market structures built by Government in each local council could be use for such purpose to really enhance purchasing power of citizens.

“Government had built markets either lock up shops or open markets in each local government, these are what they would use, employing some people who they would be goods to to sell on their behalf at a cheaper rates”.

“The implication of these is that when government sell at less price, those who hike their own prices would be forced to review it.

“So it is time for government to deploy the services of landlords associations. Landlords know those in their areas and know those who do not have. So if government delivered the Palliatives to them, it will go directly to those who are in need”.

As a way of promoting charity under the current hard biting economic situation, Prophet Omitade, appealed to Christians to cultivate the act of giving and helping those around them during this harrowing time.
