INEC responds to Obi, LP Petition

By Udesinanna Stephen

Following the petition filed by Labour Party (LP) and its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, challenging the operations of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) during the 2023 Presidential election, the Commission has asked the Presidential Election Petition Court to dismiss the petition.

INEC as the 1st respondent in its legal responds to the petition filed on Monday at the PEPC’s Secretariat by its lawyer, Abubakar Mahmoud, SAN, in Abuja said what the petition demands are not grantable.

In addition, the commission prayed that the court should “dismiss or strike out the petition on the ground of being incompetent, abusive, vague, nebulous, generic, general, non-specific, ambiguous, equivocal, hypothetical and academic.”
