…no regret leaving APC

The candidate of the Social Democratic Party, SDP for the seat of Oye/Ikole Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Congressman Bimbo  Daramola has promised to use his influence and connections with highly placed personalities across the country to facilitate great opportunities for people of his Constituency if elected.

Daramola added that his track records within and outside office as a lawmaker are enough to earn him victory at the forthcoming election if all candidates are given a level play ground.

Daramola who spoke during an engagement with Journalists in Ado Ekiti in a programme tagged Guest Platform noted that majority of workers of the National Assembly had at one time or the other worked with him when he was either serving as a lawmaker and as Chief of Staff to the speaker of the house, saying getting out any benefit from them would not be difficult.

He also noted that many serving lawmakers, governors and candidates seeking elections to the National Assembly today are either his contemporary, business partner or friend saying such development will also help him to get out dividends to his people.

Daramola described one of his APC opponent, Akin Rotimi as an “Apprentice” in the game of politics and lawmaking, saying the job of the National Assembly is beyond him for now.

The SDP candidate noted that his past records are enough reason for people of the constituncy to trust him with their votes irrespective of vote buying or party with which he is running.

He said:”When I was a lawmaker I gave my best to better the lots of my people, I gave them constant feedbacks and reached out to them in all areas.

“Even outside office, I bought JAMB forms for two thousand and fifty students among whom today have graduated from different faculties.

“My impacts in the lives of many constituents are beyond party and religion levels, and this is because of my background.

According to Daramola, some of his achievements while in office were unprecedented, saying as a lawmaker, he built a thirty two bed hospital and dashed out sixty two vehicles to some persons whom today have used the opportunity to move beyond poverty level.

If elected, Daramola promised to provide loans for youths and farmers to engage in ventures that would enhance their economic status and facilitate projects of importance to the state.

Speaking on the resigned note and it attendant consequences, Daramola said he is in support of the policy if truly it would curb vote buying.

He said vote buying has become a cancer which is killing the nation’s electoral system hence he is in support of whatever policy would curb it, urging people to also be ready to bear pains associated with ending rots in the system.

He knocked the APC government for the inability to construct the Ado Akure road for almost eight years now, as well as other roads in Ekiti state.

Speaking on his defection from APC, Daramola said he had no regret.

The SDP candidate commended NUJ leadership for organizing the engagement as parts of its responsibility of holding leaders accountable.
