IGP Meets International IDEA to Improve Interrogation Processes

…plans Standardization of Police Interrogation Rooms

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP, Usman Alkali Baba, CFR has met with the Regional Director, Africa and West Asia, of the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (IDEA) to map steps towards implementing the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) on investigations and interrogation for due compliance with the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA).

The meeting which was held yesterday discussed the production, launch and distribution of copies of the said standard procedure for interrogation across the police branches for implementation.

This was disclosed in a press statement released yesterday and signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, CPS, Olumuyiwa Adejobi.

According to the statement, the IGP also discussed on reactivation and standardization of police interrogation rooms.
