…dismisses staff for sexual misconduct
The vice Chancellor of Ekiti State University, EKSU, Professor Joseph Ayodele says he has built on the achievements of the former Vice Chancellors of the University within his past seven months in office.
The Vice Chancellor stated this on Monday during a press conference heralding the 29th convocation of the institution.
Professor Ayodele listed some of the achievements to include staff promotion, infrastructural development, outstanding performance in sporting activities, release of fund for welfare of staff and students, agricultural revolution, pronouncement of some qualified lecturers as Professors, among others.
According to him, some prominent Nigerians including the Senate leader, Opeyemi Bamidele, the Executive Chairman, Federal Inland Revenue Service, Dr Zacch Adedeji and Chairman, Board of the Bank of Industry, Dr. Mansur Muhtar will be given honourary Doctorate Degrees during the convocation ceremony.
The vice chancellor said that over sixteen thousand graduates would be conferred with Diplomas, Bachelor degrees and Higher degrees awards during the 29th convocation programme.
On Directorate of Part-Time programme, Professor Ayodele revealed that seven courses, Public Administration, Criminology, Social Work, Peace and Conflict studies, International Relations, Mass communication and Intelligence and security Studies have been introduced to transform and revitalise the programme.
Speaking on indiscipline, the Vice chancellor said the management of the institution had dismissed a staff for sexual misconduct, three for abandonment of duty posts, barred three from holding position of responsibility for three years, terminated appointment of nine, and warned twenty one for committing different offences.
He said the convocation lecture will take place on Tuesday, 25th, followed by a football match at the Institution Sports complex, on Wednesday 26th, there Will be an evening with the vice chancellor by 5pm in the evening, Thursday 27th, convocation meeting will hold in the University by eleven o’clock in the morning, Friday, 28th, there will be award of sub-degree, First Degree and presentation of Honorary Degrees by ten o’clock in the morning while conferment of post Graduate Diploma, Masters and Doctorate Degrees will take place at the University Auditorium, University Campus by eleven O’clock in the morning.
The vice chancellor said that he had paid the backlog salaries and other allowances to make staff of the University perform their duties effectively and collaborated with some top rated Universities in the United Kingdom and United States to develop staff and Students capacity.
