Hardship: Opeyemi David Falegan Foundation Donates Free Fuel to Tricyclists in Ekiti

By Precious Oham

As part of its efforts to ease the economic hardship on Nigerians, the Opeyemi David Falegan Foundation has given out free Premium Motor Spirit, known as Fuel to Tricyclists in Ekiti State.

The one-day exercise which held in Ado-Ekiti witnessed beneficiaries, who turned out en masse to benefit from the kind gesture of ODF.

According to Temitope Samuel, Special Adviser to ODF, no fewer than 100 tricycle operators benefited from the free fuel distribution ranging from N3,000 to N4,000 to each beneficiary aimed at cushioning the effects of fuel scarcity.

He noted that the exercise is not politically motivated, rather an avenue by the founder to extend humanitarian assistance to the tryclists, who are yet to benefit from the foundation.

He said: “The reason why we did this is because we have been doing it for taxis, commercial cars and okada riders for the past eight years. But we had to think about the tricycle as well because they are also part of the community. We have to extend the initiative to them and that’s what we are doing here today.

“It is not political related. This is about the foundation and going down the minimum step to assist the people and impact lives. I can assure you that the founder has never been in any political position. He is just doing it out of his kind gesture. It is his own way of impacting lives and telling them there is a better tomorrow.

“Above 100 people have benefited from this kind gesture. He has been giving people fuel, minimum of 3,000 and 4,000. We all know the situation of things in the country. There is fuel scarcity. That is why ODF has said he doesn’t want his people to lack fuel and stay at home suffering. We have been giving people free of charge courtesy of ODF.”

Some of the beneficiaries, who spoke with journalists hailed the founder for deeming it necessary to extend his kind gesture saying that it will go a long way in helping their operations within the state capital.
