Group Trains 1000 Ekiti Youths on Entrepreneurship Skills

A youth Organizations under the auspices of “the Convergence” at the weekend assembled no fewer than 1000 Ekiti youths to mentor them on entrepreneurship and leadership skills to become job creators instead of job seekers.

According to the Convergence, no fewer than 6000 young people drawn from the 16 local governments of Ekiti state have benefited from such mentorships in the last five years..

The organisation which is in partnership with KTN UK (the United Kingdom’s largest innovation network
and a part of the Innovate UK Group) and Agbeyewa (a foremost name in Agriculture
innovation in Nigeria), said that it’s mission is to engage young minds for personal growth and socioeconomic development.

In his welcome address, the convener, Mr Tosin Adaraniwon, said that there was need to change the negative mindsets of the young people in the country towards creative and progressive thinking.

Adaraniwon said that for the young people to take ownership of the country, they must show capacity and ability to solve problems, noting that without these traits, they cannot be parts of the table.

“The theme for this year: ‘Redesigning a New Nigeria with New Ideas,’ was borne from
the growing demands for new generational leadership and now the youth must take
ownership of the development of our nation if we must attain greater heights.

“What we are trying to do in the Convergence is to bring the Youths together, change their attitude and let them discover their abilities and contribute their quota for the development of the country.

“We want them to be aware of the limitless opportunities around them waiting to be harnessed, so that rather than being jobless or looking for paid employment, they can become employers themselves.”
