Governors building airports to export illegal mined minerals – Atiku Aide alleges

By Udesinanna Stephen

Special Assistant on Digital Media Strategy to Atiku Abubakar, Demola Olarewaju, has said Governors scrambling to build airports is to facilitate the transportation of minerals mined underground to foreign countries.

He made this allegation lately on his X handle @DemolaRewaju while responding to the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr Dele Alake, who revealed that the”Federal Government to create mining police to combat illegal mining in Nigeria.”

According to him, almost every state in Nigeria has a form of “illegal” mining going on as the Governors put taxes that should be going to the state coffers into their personal pockets.

“When you see Governors scrambling to build airports, it is usually to facilitate the easier transportation of minerals mined underground to foreign countries. Nigeria is a crime scene that can only be rescued by True Federalism.” He added.

Speaking on the Federal Government initiative to create mining police, he said, “Alake’s plan is a shakedown attempt to plug Tinubu’s straw into the operation, in the name of “military Federalism”. He added.
