GOVERNOR OYEBANJI SWEARS-IN OGUNMOYE AS EKITI ACTING CHIEF JUDGE

Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji today sworn-in Justice Adekanye Lekan Ogunmoye as Ekiti State, Acting Chief Judge.

Performing the low-key swearing-in ceremony in Ado Ekiti, Governor Oyebanji said, Section 271(4) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended) conferred on him the power to appoint Justice Lekan Ogunmoye as the Acting Chief Judge of Ekiti State, this is to ensure that a vacuum is not created and that the judicial arm of government in Ekiti State continue to work.

Governor Oyebanji described judiciary as an important arm of governmemt, he charged the Acting Chief Judge to lift Ekiti State judiciary to a greater height and discharge his duties faithfully in line with the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and in line with the oath taken.

In his remark, the Acting Chief Judge thanked the governor for the opportunity, he said, this moment calls for sober reflection, he described the late Chief Judge , Justice John Adeyeye, as a honest and competentent jurist, his brother whose death came as a rude shock.

He said, his legacies such as Visual Court Sitting, e- affidavit, infrastructural development, staff welfare among others shall continue to be remembered.

Justice Ogunmoye reiterates importance of judiciary staff, he pledged to uphold efficient justice delivery and prioritise staff welfare, I seek the cooperation of my brother judges and support of his Excellency, the Governor in achieving this goals, Ogunmoye said.

Born on 11th June, 1963, in Omuo Ekiti in Ekiti East LGA, Justice Ogunmoye attended S.D.A Primary School, Ijero, Omuo Ekiti between 1970-1973 and Community Primary School, Ara Ekiti in Ijero LGA, 1973-1975. He proceeded to Omuo Comprehensive High School, Omuo Ekiti between 1976-1981 for his secondary education.

He got Admission to University of Ife now Obafemi Awolowo University to study Law and bagged his L.L.B (Hons) in 1986.
He attended the Nigerian Law School in Lagos between 1986 and 1987, he was called to the Nigerian Bar in October, 1987, and he had his post graduate studies in Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife in 1996.

He began his carrier in civil service of Ondo State as a State Counsel in 1988 and served until 1993. He transferred his service to the Ondo State Judicial Service Commission as Senior Magistrate grade ll.

He rose through the ranks to the position of Chief Magistrate Administration.

Justice Ogumoye moved to Ekiti State Ministry of Justice in 1996 after the creation of Ekiti State, where he was appointed Director of Public Prosecution and later appointed as the Solicitor General and Permanent Secretary between November, 2002 and January, 2010.

He was elevated to the High Court Bench of Ekiti State as a Judge where he has been serving till date.

Dignitaries at occasion include the Deputy Governor, Mrs Monisade Afuye, Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Abibat Adubiaro, Head of Service, Dr. Folake Olomojobi, Attorney General &Commissioner For Justice, Dayo Apata SAN, Members of the Excecutive Council, Olomuo of Omuo Ekiti, Oba Noah Omonigbehin, Ekiti State High Court Judges amongs others.
