GOVERNOR OYEBANJI PROMISES BETTER WELFARE FOR VISUALLY IMPAIRED STUDENTS IN EKITI

Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji has promised to attend to the various issues affecting the students of the Government Special School for the Blind, Ikere-Ekiti.

Governor Oyebanji spoke while addressing the students who came to protest over poor welfare and some challenges facing their school.

Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Habibat Omolara Adubiaro Governor Oyebanji restated his commitment to the well-being of special persons urging the students to calm down.

The students with visual impairments at the Government Special School for the Blind, Ikere-Ekiti, Ekiti State had Tuesday, expressed their grievances at the Ekiti State Government office over poor welfare and dilapidated facilities in their school.

The students who converged on the main entrance of the Ekiti State Governor’s office in the early hours said their welfare have not been prioritised which has made them to languish in the school.

Other demands include; unavailability of school bus, no educational facilities such as writing materials, toiletries; inaccessible road network and failure to pay 300N stipends for their welfare.

The students noted that they came to show their grievances because they know that Governor Oyebanji was not aware of their plight.
