Gov Obaseki hails Edo Queens FC, as they qualify for CAF Women Champions League final

Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki has congratulated Edo Queens FC on winning the 2023-2024 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) and qualifying for the CAF Women Champions League.

Governor Obaseki complimented the team’s tenacity in holding hosts Bayelsa Queens to a one-all draw in the NWFL Super Six playoffs, allowing them to win their maiden league title.

According to him, this achievement reflects the State’s long-standing commitment to sports development, which includes comprehensive welfare packages and other efforts that have raised the profile of women’s football.

The Governor praised the players and coaching staff for their dedication throughout time, stating that their efforts had paid off with their qualification to compete at the continental level.

He reassured the team that the State Government would continue to support them to achieve a strong performance when they progressed to continental football.
