FUEL SCARCITY:EKITI NLC MEETS DEALERS

… Seeks end to sharp practices, hike in price of petroleum products

The leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress NLC, Ekiti State has appealed to dealers of petroleum products in the state to make petrol  available and sell at reasonable price.

Congress chairman, Comrade Kolapo Olatunde made the plea in Ado Ekiti during a meeting with members of petroleum Dealers’ Association, Ekiti State Branch.

Comrade Kolapo Joshua urged  leadership of the association to prevail on their members to stop sharp practices, saying most filling stations were not faithful with customers.

The NLC Chairman explained that the essence of the meeting was to rub mind with owners of petrol stations to ensure that they comply with official pump price and make the product available.

Comrade Joshua  thanked  Governor Oyebanji for his proactiveness by constituting task force with a view to end the scarcity

Also, Chairman of NULGE, Comrade Oluseyi Olatunde, and that of the Medical Workers Association,  Comrade Olufemi Ajoloko lamented that  scarcity and hike in price of the product had really affected the standard of living of the people.

Reacting, spokeperson of the Petroleum Association, Mr  Isaac  Ishedowo explained that   the removal of subsidy, non functional refineries, bad condition of roads and other policies were  responsible for the frequent  scarcity and hike in price of petrol in the country, saying such was not peculiar to Ekiti State alone.

Also, Chairman of Petroleum Dealers in Ekiti State, Mr Olu Olobele said they were selling petroleum products based  on what they purchased at the depot.
