Former Youth Parliament Speaker Organizes Quiz, Debate Competition in Ekiti Schools

A former Speaker, Ekiti Youth Parliament, Toba Ayo-Fatunla has organized a quiz and debate competition for six secondary schools in Ekiti State.

The six schools from Ikole-Ekiti include; Ikole City College, St. Mary’s Girls Grammar School, Egbeoba High School, Holy Apostolic High School, Orin Odo High School, and AUD High School.

During the quiz session, students answered general knowledge questions, impressing everyone with their remarkable knowledge and quick thinking.

At the end of the session, a clear first-place winner emerged, but a tie for second place between Orin Odo High School and AUD High School required an additional, rigorous round to determine the final rankings.

During the debate, three schools argued for the topic, β€œFormal Education Enhances Socio-Economic Development More Than Vocational Training” while the other three argued against it.

Also, the students delivered their points confidently and skillfully, demonstrating impressive poise and critical thinking as it was a challenging task for the panel of judges to score the performances.

After summing up the scores from both sessions, the final results were: 3rd Placed: 𝐀𝐔𝐃 𝐇𝐒𝐠𝐑 π’πœπ‘π¨π¨π₯; 𝟐𝐧𝐝 𝐏π₯𝐚𝐜𝐞d: 𝐎𝐫𝐒𝐧 𝐎𝐝𝐨 𝐇𝐒𝐠𝐑 π’πœπ‘π¨π¨π₯ and 𝟏𝐬𝐭 𝐏π₯𝐚𝐜𝐞d: π„π π›πžπ¨π›πš 𝐇𝐒𝐠𝐑 π’πœπ‘π¨π¨π₯.

According to the organizers, as part of their prizes, the winners (1st and 2nd place) will go on an excursion to Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH), and the Governor’s Office, and they will feature on a live program on Progress FM 100.5.

They revealed that they will also present the winners with thoughtfully prepared gifts, including textbooks, donated books, and customized notebooks.
