FCT Minister Donates 100 Motorcycles to Boost Security

Grace Omachoko

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has provided 100 motorcycles to security organizations in the region as part of efforts to strengthen the fight against crime, particularly in remote areas.

The motorcycles were distributed among various security agencies, including 60 for the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN), 30 for the police, and five each for the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC). The distribution aims to enhance security in hard-to-reach areas of the territory.

Wike emphasized the need for the motorcycles to be used exclusively in rural areas to combat crime and prevent them from being used in urban settings. He instructed security agencies to use the motorcycles responsibly and ensure they remain available for their intended purpose.

The minister expressed his gratitude to the VGN for their dedication to safeguarding lives and property in the FCT. Highlighting the importance of supporting the vigilance teams and providing them with the necessary resources to assist the police and other security agencies.

Wike reiterated the commitment of the Renewed Hope Agenda to prioritize the security of residents in Abuja and the surrounding area councils.

He urged the security outfits to use the motorcycles effectively and not for commercial purposes, as they are intended to protect lives and property in rural areas.
