Excitement as UK Based NGO Celebrates Ekiti Children in Grand Style

May 27 is a day set aside to celebrate the Children which was first celebrated in Nigeria in 1967 after the 1925 Proclamation by UNICEF in Geneva.

In view of this, a UK-based Non-governmental Organization, the Global Kids Connect has rolled out the drums to celebrate children in Ekiti State at the Davies Academy, Ifaki Ekiti.

The joy could be seen on the faces of the pupils and students who were singing and jumping as they were honoured to be part of the historical event.

Part of the activities staged by the children to mark the day included Chorography, Quiz and Dancing Competition among others.


The Ekiti State Coordinator of the Global Kids Connect and Proprietress of Davies Academy, Ifaki-Ekiti, Princess Fadekemi Kelechi-David said that the organizers thought was to let the children feel the joy of the Day.

She called on parents to place premium on their wards in order to give them a better future.

A resource persons at the event,  Mrs Rachael Apuabi who described children as the heritage of God appealed to government at all levels and all stakeholders to create the enabling environment for children to exhibits their God given talents.

She noted that the society would enjoy the maximum peace if  parents endeavor to teach their children moral values.

Also, a Journalist, Mr Kelechi David who commended the Global Kids Connect for the partnership said that the program would encourage the children to do more in their studies.

Some of the students and teachers also thanked the organizers for celebrating the day with them.
