EKSU Student Accuses Professor Adeseke of Rape

…as Management Begins Probe

Reports reaching Roundoffnews says one of the female students in the Department of Theatre and Media Arts in Ekiti State University, EKSU, has accused her lecturer, Prof. Adefolaju Adeseke of the same department of rape.

The female student in a petition to Omolade Asake Foundation, a Non-governmental organization, dated 24th July 2024 alleged that Adeseke invited her to his office at the Faculty of Arts when he allegedly forcefully had sex with her.

She alleged that he forced his way when she went to see him in his office at the Faculty of Arts in the University.

According to her, “When I got there, he first spoke to me for a while, then he stood up and locked the door. He started kissing me and tried to take off my clothes, I told him I didn’t want to, but he didn’t listen till he eventually had sex with me.

“He later apologised and said he didn’t know I was telling the truth of being a virgin. He wanted to see me later that day but I made up an excuse and told him I was going somewhere.”

Meanwhile, the university Management said they are already investigating the matter while pleading with the complainant and other interested parties to exercise patience and give room for thorough investigation and due diligence in the matter.

A statement by the Deputy Registrar/Head, Directorate of Information & Corporate Affairs of the University, Bode Olofinmuagun, advised students to feel free to report any form of sexual abuse or gender based violence to the university authorities, as well as explore internal dispute resolution mechanism rather than taking such cases to the social media.
