…as Victoria Fehintola Moses Dada Foundation Trains Educators, others on Code of Conduct

Ekiti State government has emphasized the need for professionalism and adherence to ethics among Education Officers, Teaching and Non-Teaching Staff in schools in the State.
The Education Officers, Teaching and Non-Teaching Staff were equipped towards ensuring that professional conduct is imbibed in the teaching and learning process in schools in the State.
They gave the charge at a one-day training held in Ijero-Ekiti on Friday for Education Officers, Teaching And Non-Teaching Staff in Ekiti Central Senatorial District, organized by the Adolescent Girls’ Initiative for Learning And Empowerment, AGILE, Project, Ekiti State, a World Bank assisted project of the Federal Ministry of Education and facilitated by Victoria Fehintola Moses Dada Foundation.
In her welcome address, the Project Coordinator of AGILE, Yewande Adesua, represented by Akindele Olaitan said that the AGILE project is “to increase adolescent enrollment, retention and to ensure completion of their secondary school education.
“The project has component and sub-component that has a specific challenge to the address on the component 3 which involves the environmental and social safeguards to ensure safe teaching and learning environment in school of Ekiti State.”
Giving an overview of the Code of Conduct document, Olaitan, who doubles as the GBV Desk Officer in the Ministry of Education and AGILE said that the CoC will go a long way in improving the education standard in the State.
He explained that Code of Conduct provides standards for ethical behavior and values adding that it also sets out the consequences for violations of the rules and regulations.
Olaitan went further to say that the Code of Conduct will ensure transparency, accountability, efficiency, productivity, professional conduct and protection of the school environment for effective teaching and learning process.
On her part, the AGILE Consultant for the development and production of Ekiti State Code of Conduct for Education Officers, Teaching and Non-Teaching Staff and Executive Director of Victoria Fehintola Moses Dada Foundation, Dr. Comfort Yemisi Afolabi explained that the CoC will serve as a guide for the key stakeholders to properly execute their task and create an accessible and comfortable learning space for students.
She said: “It is a guide and set of rules for teachers working in our schools on creating a safe space for our children on learners to learn and also staff. It is also for administrators to also guide them on how to do their daily work in the schools.
“It is a sort of guidelines set on all aspects of the learning process in the schools. It is very detailed and will be distributed to all teachers in the schools. It will make our educational system and enhance standard education in Ekiti State schools.”
Other highlights of the program was various sessions on the CoC by resource persons from the Foundation including; Moyinoluwa Ogundowole and Temitope Ayodele interactive session and signing of the CoC by beneficiaries.
Some of the participants appreciated the effort of the AGILE project towards providing a body to fight for the right of students and also enlightening the teaching and non-teaching staff on their duties in ensuring a safe learning environment in the schools.
