Ekiti Speaker Expresses Sympathy Over Death of Veteran Broadcaster, Bankole Agbeyo

The Speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adeoye Stephen Aribasoye, has expressed his deep sympathy to the Agbeyo family of Usi Ekiti, over the death of their patriarch, Chief Bankole Agbeyo.

Rt. Hon. Aribasoye made this known in Ado Ekiti on Sunday, during a condolence visit to the family at their residence in Covenant Avenue Area, Ajebandele, Ado Ekiti.

He described the late Bankole Agbeyo, father of his Special Adviser on Media, Babajide Agbeyo, as a dignified paterfamilias and a man of honor, whose enviable lifestyle was reflected in his offsprings, especially Babajide, who inherited his professional qualities.

In his tribute, the Assembly helmsman wrote, “I heard about you from your darling son, Babajide Agbeyo, my own reliable and dependable media aide, who spoke glowingly of you and your modest life. We mourn your exit from this mortal earth but with joy that you have transited to glory. On behalf of my colleagues and the entire staff of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, I say may your soul rest in peace. Adieu.”

In his reaction, on behalf of the family, one of the children of the deceased, Arch. Olawale Agbeyo, thanked the Speaker for his visit, describing him as a responsive and responsible lawmaker, whose life and conduct epitomize the fear of God.

Similarly, Babajide Agbeyo appreciated the Speaker for his kindness and display of good leadership, describing his late father,
the Baba Ewe of Saint Andrew’s Anglican Church, Usi Ekiti, as a great man whose impact in the field of broadcasting in Nigeria would remain a subject of emulation.

The late veteran broadcaster and mentor to many professionals, was the Director of News and Current Affairs at the Ondo State Radiovision Corporation (OSRC) and a pioneer director at the Broadcasting Service of Ekiti State.

An experienced Master of Ceremony in his time, Bankole Agbeyo, compered the inauguration of the first civilian governor in Ekiti State, Otunba Niyi Adebayo, among other landmark events in Ondo, Ekiti and other states of the federation.
