Ekiti Police Command Falsifies News of Bank Robbery

…warns fake news peddlers

The Ekiti State Police Command has falsified the controversial social media report of an alleged bank robbery in Ado-Ekiti and Ikere-Ekiti today.

The robbery attack was debunked by the Command through a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP Abutu Sunday, moments after the circulation of the news.

Debunking the news, Mr, Abutu noted that, the news was instigated by fake news peddlers who he described as the State’s enermy, thus, send warning signal to perpetrators.

The statement reads in part, “The attention of the Ekiti State Police Command has been drawn to a fabricated story circulating across the State especially through the social media that a Bank in was under attack by a group of armed robbers today being 19/12/2023.

“The Command wishes to State clearly that the trending news was just a mere imagination of some fake news peddlers and enemies of the State who derive joy in causing unnecessary apprehension in the society.”

More so, imploring the public to disregard the robbery reports, Sunday revealed that the State’s Commissioner of Police, CP Ogundare Dare, has order the deployment of tactical and intelligence teams across the State, including bank areas to avoid any future attacks.
