Pensioners in Ekiti State have commended Governor Biodun Oyebanji for the recent payments of gratuities and pension deductions urging him to sustain the tempo.
Though the pensioners lamented that government is still owing them over forty billion naira, they were excited by the recent fund released by the governor.
Speaking with Roundoffnews in Ado Ekiti, chairman of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Mr. Joel Akinola said pensioners have now heave a sigh of relief since the inception of office by the incumbent Governor.
Mr Akionla confirmed that the governor had released almost a billion naira since inception, a development he described as incredible.
He confirmed that the immediate past administration did not grant the union audience for four years saying the government of Oyebanji is a blessing.
He appealed to members to be patient as efforts were on to ensure that the governor do more.
Speaking on the committee set up to provide modalities on how to defray the outstanding gratuities, Mr Akinola said the committee is expected to turn up its report soon.
