Ekiti NULGE Condemns Killing of Monarchs, Abduction of Pupils, Teachers

…urges members to be security conscious

The President of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), in Ekiti State, Comrade Oluseyi Babatunde Olatunde has condemned the recent rising spate of criminalities in Ekiti State which have caused panic and apprehension in the hearts of indigenes of the State.

With the recent ones being the killing of the Elesun of Esun Ekiti Oba Babatunde Ogunsakin and the Onimojo of Imojo Ekiti Oba Olatunde Olusola, and the kidnapping of school children and school staff, Olatunde noted that it is important for everyone to be security conscious and jointly confront the issue of insecurity.

This was contained in a statement by the Publicity Secretary of NULGE in
Ekiti State, Yinkafemi Monsurat Oladipupo.

“NULGE sympathizes with the victims of these dastardly acts, shares the pains of the loved ones while commiserating with the families of those whose lives were lost. As a Union, our payers are with all affected, believing that these wanton killings and other threats to our lives, peace and progress as a people shall be brought to a definite halt very soon’, Comrade Olatunde notes.

“On behalf of the good people of NULGE in Ekiti State, I want to use this opportunity to condole our Governor, Mr Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji (BAO), whom we believe is the most hit by these unexpected happenings, knowing fully well that His Excellency Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji (BAO) takes the lives of Ekiti people very dearly to his heart.

“We pray for the good Lord and His Spirit to strengthen our Governor during this trying periods, granting him the strength of heart, courage and foritudes to stand up for his people and battle this rising scourge to the ground’.

“As a Union and as BAO’s subjects, we have great confidence in his capacity to lead from the front, permanently pushing all criminal elements out of he borders of Ekiti State.”

The State President therefore called on all stakeholders in the state to take responsibility for the security of the state.

“I want to urge everyone in Ekiti State to see security and safety of lives and property in Ekiti as the duty and responsibility of all.

“As citizens, we should help security agents and Government with useful information about strange movements and faces in our communities, just as we are expected to expose our relations who have any form of links with criminal elements, noting that no crime can thrive in environments that do not accommodate it.

“We commend our security officers for their efforts so far. However, they should see the recent attacks as a wake-up call, which should spur them into action. This time around, we expect them to put to use all machineries available at their disposal to flush out criminals in out dear Ekiti State.

“I wish to urge all Local Government staff in the State not to fret, as efforts are being made by the Governor and the security forces to ensure the safety of all and sundry, making the state uninhabitable for criminals.

‘Not withstanding, all staff must be circumspect and watchful, and not handle the issue of their security with carelessness. Staff should not delay in reporting suspicious movements and security breeches to appropriate quarters.

“Ultimately, we should pray to God for our safety and for help for our government and security agencies for wisdom, wherewithal and every support needed to bring a stop to insecurity in Ekiti State.” Comrade Olatunde added.

“As a Union, we promise to continually engage with necessary agencies and to make our contributions where necessary to ensure lasting peace and safety of our members.

“Once again, we condole with the State Governor, and family members, praying these sad events shall not happen again in our dear State. Amen.”
