EKITI NUJ COMMENDS OYEBANJI FOR APPOINTING MEMBERS INTO BOARDS

The Ekiti State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has hailed the State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji for appointing its erstwhile chairman, Chief Laolu Omosilade as chairman of the Board of the State-owned media outfit, the Broadcasting Service of Ekiti State (BSES).

The Union also expressed delight that the immediate past chairperson of the women wing of the NUJ, Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) Mrs Fatimoh Titilola Bello and the State chairman of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Mr Quazeem Oladapo were respectively appointed as members of the Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board and Ekiti State Sports Development Trust Fund.

In a statement signed by the Union’s Secretary, O’Seun Ogunsakin, the State chairman of the Union, Comrade Kayode Babatuyi thanked Governor Oyebanji for appointing members of NUJ into critical and relevant offices; saying that the appointment of Omosilade as the Chairman of the Board of BSES where he had retired would bring more development to the media corporation as he would deploy his wealth of experience in moving the corporation forward.

Babatuyi equally noted that the appointment of Bello who is a devouted muslim and Oladapo who is a well-known sports journalist is putting the round peg in a round hole.

He said he was not surprised that Oyebanji had appointed its members into very important positions said the governor has been a very good friend of the media and has penchant for appointing the right set of people into government.

While congratulating the new appointees, the Union chairman charged them to continue to be good ambassadors of NUJ and use their expertise in helping the governor deliver on his promise to deliver shared prosperity to Ekiti people.

The NUJ reiterated its support for the government in ensuring that its policies and programmes are given adequate publicity.
