EKITI, MODEL FOR EXECUTIVE – LEGISLATURE HARMONY, SAYS ARIBASOYE

The Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye says Ekiti State stands as a good model and case study for executive – legislature harmony.

Aribasoye stated this on Thursday at the special sitting of the state house of assembly to mark the first anniversary of the 7th assembly.

The speaker in his remarks linked the cordial relationship of the house with the executive to the supportive and positive disposition of governor Biodun Oyebanji coupled with the resolve of the 7th assembly lawmakers to put Ekiti development first.

Rt. Hon. Aribasoye who noted that the house equally enjoyed smooth relationship with the judiciary said the support of other arms of government contributed immensely to the monumental achievements recorded by the house within one year.

He reeled out the numerous achievements of the 7th assembly within one year to include digitizing the operations of the house, establishing an active loans board, infrastructural transformation, lawmakers’ constituencies engagement and passage of 13 important bills into law, among other achievements.

The speaker explained that the assembly unveiled its four year legislative agenda in the course of the anniversary celebrations noting that the document, which he presented the governor with a copy, has set a tone and standard on which the house will run its blueprint.

The Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji expressed satisfaction with the performance of the house in the one year period, describing the 7th assembly as exceptional, mature, cooperative and progress driven.

According to the governor, the house ensured swift attendance to bills, promotion of Ekiti values and prioritization of Ekiti interest promising continued support to the Assembly.

He urged the Ekiti lawmakers to endeavor to bridge communication gaps at community levels to keep the populace updated about the projects and projections of government.

Also the President of the Customary Court of Appeal in Ekiti State Justice Monisola Abodunde congratulated the 7th assembly on the various feats attained within a short period adding that the judiciary enjoys cordiality with the assembly.

At the event, outstanding government MDAs were given awards and the first to sixth assembly got special recognition award by the 7th Assembly in acknowledgment of the different pressure absorbed and sustenance of the system in their various peculiar times.

The Ekiti State Police Commissioner and the Ministry of Health received awards for their religious compliance with all resolutions of the house that affected them while the Auditor General’s Office bagged award for timely submission of reports and utmost transparency.

The state Ministry of Art, Culture and Creative Economy also got honoured with an award for massively promoting Ekiti culture in alignment with legislations of the assembly.

Other dignitaries at the programme include the Deputy Governor, Commissioners, top political figures , former speakers, ex lawmakers and spouses of current lawmakers among other distinguished guests.
