Ekiti Magistrate Court Convicts 7 For Environmental Offences

No fewer than 7 people were convicted by a Magistrate Court in Ado-Ekiti for flouting Ekiti State environmental laws.

The offenders, who were tried on Wednesday were found guilty of breaching the environmental laws and were made to pay fines of N7,000 each or sentenced to imprisonment in default of the sentence.

The defaulters were arrested in the early hours of Wednesday by officers of the Ekiti State Waste Management Agency at NTA Road in Ado-Ekiti.

They were subsequently charged to the Magistrate Court for violating the state’s environmental laws for indiscriminate dumping of refuse on the maiden.

Those charged by Magistrate Saka Olajuwon Afunsho are four males and three females including; Areo Kolawole, Toba Omolayo, Owolawi Bosede, Ademola Yusuf, Familayo Ajayi, Oluleye Abayomi and Ayodeji Kemi.
