Ekiti Local Government Service Commission Unveils New Journal

…as Deputy Governor attributes success to present administration’s commitment to workers’ welfare.

A journal “The Public Servant” produced by the Ekiti State Local Government Service Commission has been unveiled.

The journal will be produced periodically to showcase the activities of the present administration both at the State and the Local Government levels.

Unveiling the Public Servant Journal in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Chief Monisade Afuye noted that the journal was an evidence that government is doing well to ensure that Ekiti workers perform optimally, saying Governor Oyebanji would not relent in his efforts to create enabling environment for workers.

The Deputy Governor urged local government staff to use the Journal to promote activities of government at local level and direct all council chairmen to buy copies of the journal for their respective councils.

In his speech, the Permanent Secretary, Ekiti State Ministry of Local Government, Mr Babatunde Jegede explained that the Journal was loaded with well researched and logically organized articles on sundry issues, to foster knowledge, growth and development of the local government service.

He noted that the activities of local government chairmen across the state were published in the journal for members of the public to view.

The permanent secretary who is also the Chairman and publiser of the Journal noted that the journal which replaced the defunct Grassroots Publiccation of the service would showcase the good work of present administration led by Governor Biodun Oyebanji at the grassroots.

Ealier, the State Head of Service, Eng. Sunday Komolafe urged staff of local government to ensure sustainability of the journal and use it to showcase activities of Governor Oyebanji, local governments and the LCDAs.

Represented by permanent secretary, Ministry Establishment, Mr. M. Shittu appealed to staff of all the Council areas in Ekiti State to work close with their Chairmen to guarantee periodic publication of the Journal and support Governor Oyebanji’s administration.

Also, the representative of the ALGON Chairman, Chairman of Ekiti west Local Government, Hon. Sesan Okere commended the initiative of those behind the journal, urging them to keep the fire burning.

In his address, the Chairman of NUJ, Ekiti State Council, Mr Rotimi Ojomoyela noted that local government information staff had proved their worth by producing the journal, urging government to complement their efforts with necessary requirements.

Mr Ojomoyela charged them to make the journal local oriented by capturing all activities in local governments and LCDAs.

The unveiling of the Journal was well attended by government functionaries and staff of Local Governments across the state.
