Ekiti lawmaker sponsors medical outreach for constituents

…set to incorporate health insurance benefits, others

The member, representing Ekiti North 1 Federal Constituency, Akin Rotimi will flag-off a two-day free medical outreach in his constituency.

The programme, which is in collaboration with the Primary Healthcare Agency, Nigerian Medical Association, Ekiti State Branch and Association of Resident Doctors, Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido-Ekiti, will hold on Friday, September 15 and Saturday, September 16, 2023.

The reps spokesperson, in a statement on Wednesday said the two-day medical outreach will hold at the Ikole Specialist Hospital on Friday and Oye General Hospital on Saturday from 7.00am to 2.00pm daily.

According to him, “The scope of the Outreach include; Medical Consultations; Minor surgeries e.g. Lipoma Excision, Herniorrhaphies, Lump Excision; Ear, Nose and Throat (removal of foreign objects); Dental Procedures (Tooth Extraction, Scaling and Polishing); Eye Tests and Distribution of Glasses; Cataract Surgeries; Care for indigent patients; Capturing of some members of the constituency under National Health Insurance Act (NHIA).”

Speaking further, the lawmaker said hundreds of people will be incorporated in the health insurance scheme to cover their basic medical care for one year.

“The hundreds of people to be incorporated in the health insurance scheme will get free health treatment, drugs, and all consultations free for the next one year in any of the over 50 health facilities in the state.

“We will also be offsetting the medical bills of a few of our people held in hospitals for outstanding bills. We will be working with the leadership at the wards level to provide logistics for people to be brought to Ikole from all communities.”
