Ekiti Earns Top Spot in National Pension Administration

Ekiti State has been described as one of the best states in Nigeria in terms of pension administration, with Governor Biodun Oyebanji also commended for prioritizing the interests of pensioners in the state.

The National Pension Commission’s lead inspector, Mr. Anthony Ohaegbu, made these remarks during an assessment tour to the Ekiti State Local Government (LG) Pension Transitional Arrangement (PTAD) Department in Ado Ekiti.

In a statement signed by Mr. Wole Adeleye, Director of Information and Civic Orientation, LGPTAD, Mr. Ohaegbu praised Governor Oyebanji for consistently prioritizing retirees’ interests and advised LG PTAD to allocate funds for outstanding pension areas.

He also lauded the permanent secretary and team for their administrative conduct.

Earlier, in his welcome address, LG PTAD Permanent Secretary Mr. Foluso Akinwumi thanked Governor Oyebanji for ensuring senior citizens’ quality of life.

According to him, since the governor’s administration began, monthly pensions have been paid regularly, with four of seven outstanding 2018 arears paid.

He added that the recently released N1.2 billion was allocated, alongside a monthly N100 million, for retired primary school teachers and local government workers’ gratuity, demonstrating Governor Oyebanji’s concern for seniors.

Mr. Akinwumi pledged that the management and staff of LG PTAD under his watch are commited to executing the administration’s pensioner-focused initiatives promptly.
