The Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, Chief (Mrs) Christianah Monisade Afuye, yesterday, joined topnotches in the women wing of the All Progressives Congress to rally supports for the party’s presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of 2023.

Besides the Ekiti number two citizen, present at the well-attended event held at Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos State, were the wives of the Presidential candidate and his running mate, Senator Remi Tinubu and Nana Kashim-Shettima respectively, among others.

The rally was intended to galvanise support for the actualisation of the Tinubu’s landslide victory in the Southwest Region in the 2023 poll.

A statement by her Special Assistant on Media, Victor Ogunje, in Ado Ekiti, on Wednesday, added that Afuye’s attendance of the rally was in consonance with the Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s avowed stand to deliver Ekiti for Tinubu in the impending election.

Oyebanji made this resolve known while reacting to the Monday’s supreme Court’s verdict that validated his candidacy as the APC’s candidate for the June 18, 2022 poll, in a case filed by one of the aggrieved governorship aspirants, Kayode Ojo.

The Ekiti State Governor had said; “To all APC members, our next assignment is to work and mobilise massively for the victory of our Presidential Candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and our party in the coming presidential election.

“I urge you all to go out and demonstrate your love and support for our Asiwaju”.

Speaking with reporters after the event, Mrs Afuye described Tinubu as an indisputable political leader in the Southwest region and the best choice for Nigerians in the 2023 poll among the presidential contenders.

The Deputy Governor said Tinubu had distinguished himself as an accomplished technocrat and political leader, who can be trusted with power, saying the entire six states of the Southwest we deliver a block vote to him in the impending electoral battle.

“Asiwaju Tinubu stands out among all the contenders in all respect. Just take a look at his strides as a Governor of Lagos State, he distinguisged himself as a reformer, architect and builder, and that is the kind of a leader we want in Nigeria after President Muhammadu Buhari.

“Lagosians still reflect and remember with nostalgic feelings, how Asiwaju rejuvenated the economy and increased the revenue generation from the paltry N600m to a staggering sum of N12bn monthly in his eight years reign in Lagos.

“To us in Ekiti State, Governor Oyebanji and other party leaders had spoken that our main preoccupation now is to mobilise votes for this detribalised and distinguished Nigerian in 2023, so that he can emerge victorious to deliver democracy dividends to Nigerians.

“He had demonstrated capacity by building Lagos economy and makes it the third largest in Africa, we have unwavering confidence in his ability that he shall bring this midas touch to the national pedestal if given the opportunity”, Mrs Afuye said.
