EKITI CP, EWI INTERVENE IN CLASH BETWEEN OKADA RIDERS

The  Ewi of Ado-Ekiti, Oba Adeyemo Adejugbe has intervened in the crisis between the leadership of the Association of Commercial Motorcyclists known as Okada riders and their members.

As at the time of this report the Commissioner of Police, Dare Ogundare is holding meeting with the concerned okada riders with hope of resolving the matter.

There was pandemonium on Thursday in Ado Ekiti, the State Capital as some commercial motorcyclists staged a protest against leaders of their association.

The aggrieved riders who barricaded some streets and major junctions called for the remover of the current executives for alleged corruption, high-handedness, abuse of power, attack on colleagues and misappropriation of fund.

However at a meeting held at the palace of the monarch in Ado-Ekiti, it was resolved that both parties should maintain peace and remain law abiding to avoid sanction.

The monarch who spoke through the Eyesorun  of Ado-Ekiti noted that  the ticket fee of 300 naira being levied on the commercial motorcyclists on daily basis was not too much.

She also noted that the decision of the leadership of the association to arrest motorcyclists wearing mask was also in order hence the monarch ordered all warring  members of the association to maintain peace and return to their work.

Oba Adejugbe however advised the leadership of the association to also endeavour to correct their followers with love.

The chairman of the Association,  had earlier told the monarch that the crisis was as a result of the implementation of the government’s policy to stop motorcyclists from wearing mask.

According to him such development was to check insecurity and other criminal activities being perpetrated by some evil persons hiding under the guise of okada riders.

He appreciated the monarch for his intervention.
