An All Progressives Congress, APC, House of Representatives Aspirant, in Ekiti Central Federal Constituency II, Dele Philips, has rejected the outcome of the party’s primaries conducted on 27th May 2022.
Philips, who decried that the election was marred with irregularities called on the party officials and electoral committee to announce a new date for the rerun.
At a press conference in Ado-Ekiti, on Sunday, he alleged that the process which was truncated by electoral violence was instigated by his opponent, Biodun Omoleye.
He also faulted claims that a winner has been announced while accusing party officials in the state for failure to heed to his plea.
In his words: “It is surprising that despite the disruption of the process, the party organs in Ekiti and electoral committee from Abuja are yet to transmit the date for a rerun election.
“The APC electoral committee and team from Abuja should be physically present at the venue of the rerun election, so as to observe the process.
“I challenge Hon. Biodun Omoleye to publicly disown the actions of his agent and personal assistant, Femi Awe at the venue of the primary election, and to also distance himself from any form of electoral violence.
“Overwhelming evidence including, video, photos and witness report reveal that one Femi Awe, a direct aide and agent to Biodun Omoleye an aspirant, snatched and destroyed the ballot papers of the primary election on the 27th of May 2022.
“Efforts to submit an official complaint to the party secretary in Ekiti state and the committee from Abuja have also proved unsuccessful. This is due to the closure of the secretariat and unavailability of committee members.
“Information reaching us is that a particular candidate is about to be announced. It’s also a conspiracy that should be thrown out because it is an inconclusive election.
“The original blank result sheet, should be made available to all candidates to append their signature before the commencement of the rerun, this is again to authenticate the process.”
