...Urges citizens, oppositions to support Governor

A ranking member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Bamisile, has commended the Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, for initiating partnership with Nigeria Airspace Management Agency(NAMA) for full operation of the Ekiti State International Agro Allied Airport.

The lawmaker representing Ekiti South Federal Constituency II, predicted that full takeoff of the air transport facility will bolster Ekiti’s investment drives and unlock other business opportunities that are abound in the state.

The former Ekiti Assembly Speaker, gave the commendation, in a statement made available to journalists in Ado Ekiti, on Friday.

It will be recalled that the State government recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with NAMA, with intention to fasttrack the Airport facility domiciled in Ado Ekiti come on full stream.

Saluting the governor’s surfeit strides, Bamisile, said the action had further disabused the minds of those nursing the erroneous impression that the airport project commenced by the administration of Governor Kayode Fayemi will be abandoned.

The Federal Lawmaker expressed confidence that airport will soon begin operation and add value to the economic profile with NAMA being drafted to offer traffic control services in the facility.

“In the running of any Airport, the NAMA is very strategic. Drafting them into the whole arrangements shows that full operation of the facility has entered a topmost gear.

“Let me also commend Governor Oyebanji for providing other infrastructure like the Ekiti State Ring Road Phase One that traverses Iworoko-Are-Afao-Araromi-Igbemo along the airport corridor. This will further facilitate its full takeoff in no distant time.

“I appeal to Ekiti people including opposition to continue to have faith in Governor Oyebanji’s leadership. He deserves eulogies by his commitments to ensuring that projects started by past administrations are completed to prevent our lean resources from being squandered or drained”.

Bamisile countered those branding the Airport facility as a misplaced priority, saying such project helps to drive investments, makes the state more accessible and facilitate direct contact with intending visitors that can add value to Ekiti’s economic viability.

“It is a bad impression for some opposition elements to aver that the facility is a misplaced priority. It remains one of the facilities that create direct access to a state and when this happens, the economic profile will be enhanced especially now that our inter state roads are in bad shapes”.
