Edo State Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu has accused the State’s Governor, Godwin
Obaseki of intimidating and harassing him, following his intention to run for the 2023 Governorship Election in the State.
He made this known during an interactive session on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Tuesday.
Recall that, Shaibu had earlier disclosed his intention to run for the State’s Guber on September 21, 2024, on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Commenting on the allegation, Shaibu claimed that, he remains the best Deputy Governor in service, alleging some speculations against the Governor not being pleased with his decisions to contest in the election.
The Deputy who claimed that he has sacrificed a lot for the government, alleged that the Governor never had any conversation with him about the decision before resorting to harassment.
He also added that, the Governor should have handled any contrary opinion with him amicably rather than harassing and intimidating him, asserting that, he would never be intimidated.
More so, Shaibu who described his decision as his constitutional right, slammed the supporters of the Governor for misconceiving constitutional rights for loyalty.
Also, confirming that he has no problem with Obaseki, Shaibu tasked the Governor on organising the competitors, including giving them uniform liberty to contest objectively which should also include, suspension of all preferential treatment.
Shaibu also said that, he wished his relationship with the Governor would be normalised, after revealing that, despite the sour relationship between them, he is still loyal to the Governor.
Recall that, Shaibu, has been Obaseki’s deputy since 2016.
