Economic Experts in the country have converged in the Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti in Ekiti State, to sought out ways of resolving the economic challenges that has bedeviled the country.

The critical stakeholders who were drawn from the Academic, converged at the 12th National Conference of School of Business Studies, SBS, in The Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti, on Tuesday, with the theme “Towards National Economic Advancement: The Place of Finance, Business And Communication.”

In his welcome address, the Rector of the institution, Dr. D.H. Oladebeye said the country is desirous of experts who will rob minds towards economic advancement.

Dr. Oladebeye decried that the nation’s economy is at a cross-road where things are not working as expected noting that the conference serves as a means of salvaging the situation.

His words: “We are at a crucial time in this country where its economy is at a cross-road. The situation is so pathetic that every citizen feels and knows that things are not working as expected.

“It becomes pertinent that critical stakeholders come to the rescue of this country at this crucial time. This I want to believe is one of the reasons why this year’s theme was coined.”

Meanwhile, the Dean of SBS, Dr. Mrs. M.E. Olowolaju, said the choice of the theme was because of the nation’s reliance on petroleum to the detriment of other sectors.

While calling on well-meaning individuals to assist in the actualisation of the SBS Ultra Modern ICT Centre, she added that some personalities were rewarded for their roles in nation building.

The opening ceremony had a Keynote Address by Dr. Mrs. T.H Adeosun from the Osun State College of Technology and Lead Paper presentation by Prof. Shola Omotola, the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration) Federal University, Oye-Ekiti.

Highlight of the event was awards on deserving personalities such as the Chief of Staff to the Governor of Ekiti State, Tolu Ibitola, the Honourable Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning in Ekiti State, Mr. Ajayi Olufemi Ilori among others.
