DR. OMONISI EMERGES PIONEER GLOBAL PRESIDENT OF UNILORIN MEDI-CLASS OF 2000 ALUMNI ASSOCIATION

…pledges inclusive administration

The Head of Department of Anatomic Pathology and Founder of Ekiti Cancer Registry, Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, Nigeria, Dr. Abidemi Omonisi has been sworn in as the Pioneer President of the Unilorin Medi-Class of 2000 Alumni Association Worldwide.

Other executive members are Dr. Funmi Williams-Dauda; Vice President, Dr. Niyi Oredola; Vice President, Dr. Funmi Oluwabiyi; General Secretary, Dr. Ime Okon; Financial Secretary, Dr. Ronke Ade-Serrano; Treasurer, Prof. Aishat Bolakale; Welfare Secretary, and Dr. M. S Yakubu as the Public Relations Officer.

Members of the Interim and Election Committee are ; Prof. Adegoke Adefolalu as the Chairman, Dr. Wole Durojaiye, Dr. Mojeed Rafiu and Dr. Yetunde Adeniyi as members.

Speaking during the swearing-in ceremony, the Pioneer President of the Unilorin Medi-Class 2000 Alumni Association, Dr. Abidemi Omonisi pledged to run an inclusive government and promote the welfare of members.

According to him, the task ahead is to build an association that will foster a spirit of unity and togetherness in promoting cordial relations among members.

Dr Omonisi added that his administration would help solve some critical challenges confronting University of Ilorin by contributing to enhancing its international and national visibility .

“I want to assure everyone that it is a presidency for all members of this Association. We are bound together, not only by graduating from the University of Ilorin on the same date, but by the Constitution of our dear Association.

“That is what lies ahead for this Executive Committee, the implementation of this Constitution to the advancement of our Association, College of Health Sciences, University of Ilorin, University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital , Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria and humanity in general.

“As an Alumni Association, we would propose value opinions and strategic recommendations, to help solve some of the critical challenges confronting our Alma Mater and contribute our best to enhance the national and international reputation and visibility of University of Ilorin, wherever we may find ourselves.

“We promise to run an all-inclusive administration by creating administrative offices for strategic statutory & ad hoc committees, liaison offices and regional coordinators. We would also encourage the formation of specialized interest groups under the oversight of the Executive Committee.

“I pledge to serve the Association at all times in a spirit of fidelity and commitment to the common good, always in accord with the purposes and principles of the Constitution of the Unilorin Medi-Class 2000 Alumni Association.”

The Association was officially registered last year with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) as a Charitable Organization.
