DEMOCRACY DAY: NIGERIA WILL SOON COME OUT OF CHALLENGES…EKITI ALGON CHAIRMAN

Chairman, Association of Local Government of Nigeria, ALGON , Ekiti State, Hon. Oluwasegun Ojo, has expressed hope that Nigeria government would overcome the challenges bedeviling the country.

The ALGON boss who is also the Executive Chairman, Ekiti East Local Government, Omuo Ekiti expressed this while speaking with newsmen on the 2024 Democracy Day in Ado-Ekiti, the State capital.

Hon. Ojo appealed to Nigerians to be patient assuring the citizens that though president Bola Tinubu’s policies might be tough in the present circumstance but would soon pay off for the well-being of the people on whose mandate he ascended the throne.

Reflecting on democracy day, the council helmsman said nothing can be compared to freedom that allows civilian rule . He stressed that Nigeria has witnessed tremendous transformations in the last 25 years of self rule.

He, however, postulated that there cannot be challenges in the progressive wheel when the people wholeheartedly support and cooperate with those steering the ship of the nation. Hence, reiterating optimistically that President Tinubu has patent commitment towards economic recovery that will put the country in its pride of place.

On the journey so far, Hon Ojo said it was imperative to remember and honour the sacrifices of Chief MKO Abiola, GCFR, whose unwavering commitment to the principles of justice and equity gave room for the freedom every Nigerian is enjoying today.

According to the Ekiti ALGON chairman, “the sacrifice made by Abiola who laid his life for our freedom serves as a beacon of hope and a reminder of the price paid for our democratic gains”

On the development in Ekiti state, Hon. Ojo commended Governor Oyebanji for putting in place solid infrastructural facilities that would trigger rapid development and drive investment to the State. He identified good road network, social economic infrastructure, adequate security, free and qualitative education for students and human development as part of indices that would further attract investment into the state.

He implored Ekiti residents to keep praying for Governor Oyebanji and his cabinet to rapidly transform the state. According to the Chairman, “Governor Oyebanji is a God Sent with large heart who is very passionate in moving the state forward to favourably compete with other states in Nigeria”

On local governments’ autonomy , the
ALGON chairman, pointed out that Ekiti State is reaping it’s importance, saying there are serious competitions of infrastructure development among Local Government chairmen. “We are working assiduously to replicate infrastructures and developments in the capital in all our Local Governments and Local Council Development Areas. These developments have made our people at the grassroots feel the impacts of government”
