A Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court in Maitama has granted N500 million bail to the former governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, over allegations of a N110 billion fraud.
This ruling was approved by Justice Maryann Anenih on Thursday, on the grounds that Bello provides three sureties in like sum, who must be responsible citizens with landed properties in prime areas of the FCT, including Guzape, Wuse 2, Apo, Asokoro, and Jabi.
The judge stated that the sureties are required to submit two passport photographs each and provide valid means of identification, including their National Identification Number (NIN).
Yahaya Bello is charged with violating sections 96 and 311 of the Penal Code Law Cap.89, Laws of Northern Nigeria, 1963, which are punishable under section 312 of the same law.
This development came up a week after he was granted bail by a federal high court in Abuja on a separate case involving alleged money laundering of N80 billion.
